Amazon FBA Dimension and Weight Limits
Getting box dimensions wrong is one of the most common reasons FBA shipments get rejected or surcharged. Here are the exact limits.
Standard Size Boxes
- Maximum internal dimensions: 63.5 x 38.1 x 38.1 cm
- Maximum weight: 22.7 kg
If any single box goes over 22.7 kg, Amazon requires a "Team Lift" or "Mechanical Lift" label, and may refuse it at the fulfillment center.
Oversize Boxes
- Maximum internal dimensions: 157.5 x 78.7 x 78.7 cm
- Maximum weight: 31.75 kg
Why the Internal Dimension Matters
Amazon limits are about what fits and what the carrier accepts. The internal box dimension is what you pack against, while the external dimension determines carrier billing. BoxOptimizer works with internal dimensions for packing and lets you record tare weight separately.
FAQ
Can a single FBA box weigh more than 22.7 kg? Only oversize units may exceed it, up to 31.75 kg, and they must be labeled accordingly. Standard boxes must stay at or under 22.7 kg.
What is the maximum FBA box size? Standard tops out at 63.5 x 38.1 x 38.1 cm. Oversize goes up to 157.5 x 78.7 x 78.7 cm.
How do I avoid oversize fees? Keep every dimension within standard limits and split large quantities across multiple standard boxes. BoxOptimizer's "Find optimal box" mode suggests the smallest compliant box.
